Anheuser-Busch has announced a $22.5 million investment into its Houston, Texas, brewery in the US.
Anheuser-Busch operates over 120 establishments across the US, including 12 flagship breweries, 14 agricultural facilities and 19 craft partner breweries distributed across 24 different states. Within the state of Texas, Anheuser-Busch employs over 1,000 workers at its facilities.
This investment includes upgrades to the Houston brewery’s cooling system, workplace safety measures and reducing electricity consumption by 2,180,000kwh per year.
In order to furnish the brewery with a modern system, the current cooling system “will be completely removed and repositioned to ensure improved functionality,” said the company. Additionally, there are plans to add a free-standing structure to house the evaporative condensers.
Brendan Whitworth, CEO of Anheuser-Busch, said: “Investing in our people and in our communities to drive economic prosperity is part of who we are. We’re excited that this $22 million investment will improve the work environment for our frontline employees while also serving as engine of economic growth for Houston and surrounding areas. We’re proud to reinforce our decades-long dedication to our employees and communities through continued investments in our facilities across the country.”
Ryan Hudgins, general manager of Anheuser-Busch’s Houston brewery, commented: “The upgrade to our cooling system will enable us to stay at the forefront of brewery safety and efficiency standards. By transitioning to this new system, we not only have a positive impact on employees but also conserve resources for the local Houston community.”
The new cooling system for the Houston brewery is anticipated to be fully functional by the fourth quarter of 2023.
