Superb seafood spread to savour

WITH the gradual transition to normalcy, Malaysians can once again enjoy some of life’s simple luxuries, such as indulging in a lavish buffet.

One of the most popular places to do so in Penang is the Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel, with its Sarkies restaurant offering scrumptious spreads daily.

Currently, there is the Seafood Galore Dinner from 6.30pm to 10pm, priced at RM168 for adults and RM88 for children and seniors.

Feast to your heart’s content on the vast array of seafood on ice, sushi, sashimi and seafood-based soups, or fillets of salmon, seabass and saba (mackerel) hot off the grill.

There could also be Salmon Fish Head Curry, Wok-fried Chilli Crabs, King Prawns in Ma Xiang Sauce and Thai Seafood Curry among the hot dishes on daily rotation.

The spread features other favourites too, such as Oven-baked Ribeye, Roasted Boneless Lamb Leg, satay, Assam Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and the signature E&O Roasted Duck.

Guests can choose to top up RM108 for free flow of wines, beers and house- pouring spirits, or RM208 for prosecco.

For lunch, Sarkies serves a Weekend Dim Sum Buffet from noon to 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, priced at RM108 for adults and RM58 for children and seniors.

Enjoy homemade dim sum such as steamed barbecued chicken buns, prawn dumplings, Teochew-style steamed fish, siew mai with tobiko, rice rolls with chicken and mushroom, and radish cakes in XO sauce.

Catered more to please local palates, this spread’s hot dishes include Ayam Masak Rose, Rendang Daging Tok and Chicken Tikka Masala.

Diners can also order helpings of Mee Goreng Mamak, Nyonya Curry Mee, Hokkien Prawn Noodles and Penang Char Koay Teow.

From Monday to Friday, there is a Weekday Buffet Lunch instead. Priced at RM99 for adults and RM50 for children and seniors, it has an almost similar selection, minus the dim sum specialities.

Both lunch spreads also feature chilled seafood, carvery and grilled items, freshly made pasta dishes and a wide choice of desserts.
