Break fast with local delights in bazaar-like atmosphere

RAMADAN bazaars are one of the most anticipated places to visit during the fasting month, where the sights, sounds and aromas of the expansive array of food beckon.

With that in mind, the folks at Dapur Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club have created a bazaar-like set-up as part of this year’s buffet spread.

There are over 20 food stalls showcasing local and international dishes, led by executive banquet chef Mohd Faisal Ismail, giving it a lively atmosphere.

The buffet at the Grand Ballroom of Sime Darby Convention Centre is ongoing until May 1.

A favourite here is the lok-lok station, where diners can choose their preferred meat and vegetables that are already skewered.

Dipping them into vats of boiling water to cook the food and then, combining the skewered items with dipping sauces are hallmarks of this popular street food.

Follow the aroma of satay being grilled and you will not be disappointed.

It comes with all the trimmings – peanut sauce, nasi impit and slices of cucumber and onion.

The must-have crowd favourites are Kambing Panggang and Lidah Bakar, which are only served at the club during Ramadan.

The mutton is tender and flavoured with plenty of spice, keeping many going back for seconds.

Other dishes to look out for include Ayam Panggang Bubu Bali, Bubur Lambuk, Udang Sambal Petai, Tenggiri Lada Hijau and Tumis Darat Daging Kalio.

Appetisers comprise a variety of kerabu including Kerabu Udang, Kerabu Tauhu and Kerabu Pucuk Ubi.

The best way to end the meal is to head to one of the stalls where chefs whip up local desserts such as ABC and cendol.

The buffet is priced at RM118 nett per adult for members and RM140 nett for visitors.

Children aged six to 12 are entitled to 50% discount.

A special takeaway menu is also available for those who prefer to dine in the comfort of their home, suitable for a group of four and is priced at RM128++.

It is available at the Golfers’ Terrace until May 3, from 4pm to 8.30pm, daily.
