Royal Family are forbidden from eating certain foods in public - including pasta

It's no secret that the Royal Family has a lot of rules, but you'd think being one of the most prestigious families in the world, they'd be able to eat whatever they like.

Well, that is in fact not true, as the royals are actually forbidden from eating a number of different foods while out in public - but there's a very important reason.

Former palace chef Darren McGrady spent much of the nineties cooking up a storm for various members of the royal family, and he's since revealed what various members loved to eat - as well as the foods which were banned.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he explained that food items such as shellfish and foie gras were strictly banned in public due to them being "too risky."

While you might assume it would be an issue of safety, to prevent food poisoning and such, Yahoo Sport reported that it was actually an issue of animal welfare which prompted Prince Charles to ban the latter.

Meanwhile it's thought that seafood was banned after photos emerged showing Prince William tucking into some juicy crab legs, MyLondon reports.

Elsewhere, former palace chef Darren revealed that the Queen is set against having carbs with her evening meal, explaining: "When she dines on her own she's very disciplined. No starch is the rule...Just usually something like grilled sole with vegetables and salad."

It's not a personal discipline followed by the future king though, as Prince George's favourite dish is supposedly a pasta one. Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli claimed that the future King's favourite dish is a classic Italian favourite.

Speaking to the Daily Mail Mr Zilli said: "[William's] amazing - I'm waiting for the call because apparently his little boy's favourite is spaghetti carbonara, so I'm waiting for the call to go and cook it for him."

He added: "If George has my carbonara, he will never have another one, so I need to go and make it, let's get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook!"
