Savour local favourites at eatery’s very own ‘Ramadan bazaar’

THE breaking of fast spread at Quan’s Kitchen in Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur lives up to its promise.

Themed “Bazar Selera”, it aims to replicate the experience of browsing through Ramadan bazaars, where all local delights are found in one place.

There are the usual favourites – satay, rendang, otak-otak, ketupat, satar, chicken and meat floss, as well as kuih-muih.

The Bukhari Rice served with Mongolian Roasted Whole Lamb, which is full of aromatic flavours, deserves a mention.

With black pepper sauce served alongside succulent meat, it is a perfect dish to break one’s fast.

For a sweet and sour taste, the Udang Masak Lemak Nenas should pique your interest.

The warm and velvety broth, when mixed with fluffy rice, produces a perfect blend of flavours that is difficult to resist.

For something spicier, the Daging Masak Kicap Cili Api definitely hits the spot.

I found it a tad briny, but the tinge of lemongrass and spice balanced the saltiness, for a pleasant flavour.

For something bolder, the Gulai Ikan Asam Pedas, Lidah Lembu Masak Sambal and Silken Tofu with Spicy Soy and Minced Chicken are not to be missed.

The chicken and beef satay were remarkable – the tender meat and flavourful peanut sauce paired perfectly.

Those looking for traditional dishes will find lemang buluh, ketupat palas and serunding.

There is also a Ramadan bazaar favourite, murtabak, prepared fresh at the restaurant.

Also on the menu are traditional hand-pulled Chinese noodles – Lan Zhou La Mien – which are prepared fresh in the kitchen.

While waiting for the dish to be served, diners can watch the chef in action as he makes the noodles before putting them in hot water.

This dish is served with steamed dumplings in a bowl of light and piping-hot bone broth.

The Kerabu Timun, Kerabu Udang Pucuk Ubi and rojak buah are not to be missed.

For dessert, plenty of options await diners, including traditional kuih-muih such as kuih lopes, lepat pisang, kuih ketayap, kuih bakar, keria, seri muka, popia, sira and buah melaka.

To quench your thirst, drinks such as air tebu, sirap bandung and air kurma are aplenty.

Feel free to mix and match the condiments to make your perfect “ABC” or cendol at the dessert counter.

This dining experience, priced at RM158nett, is available daily until May 2 from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
