As for cooking it just right, Tesco Executive Chef, Jamie Robinson has shared his essential tips to cook the perfect steak:

Prep the steak right – Take off the packaging, dry out the meat and allow it to come up to room temperature. To really bring out the flavour, leave the steak uncovered overnight in the fridge too – that’s a special hack for dry-aging the beef.
Cook like a pro – Baste the meat with rapeseed oil and add a pinch of table salt. Drop the steak into a searing hot pan and let it sizzle. Resist moving it for the first few minutes and then, once caramelised, flip the steak and add a knob of butter. Cook for roughly four minutes per side for a medium rare steak, flipping regularly to inject flavour. Once done, rest the steak for as long as you cooked it, turn it frequently and don’t cut the meat until it’s ready to eat.
BBQ it on a roaring flame – If you can brave the cold, fire up the BBQ – there is honestly nothing better than steaks cooked on an open flame! If you prefer to cook indoors, use a flat pan as this will produce an even heat to cook the meat consistently.
Sirloin steak is the perfect all-rounder – Tesco Finest Sirloin is one of the best steaks to cook with; it's an all-rounder and delivers exceptional flavour and tenderness. As a guide on the other steak cuts: ribeye is rich and incredibly flavoursome, fillet steak is lean and tender, while rump steak is robust and full of flavour.
Avoid overcooking your steak – Everyone has their own preferred level of cooking steak. Only practice makes perfect but if you want a helpful tip, you can use your hand as a guide to how the meat should feel. If you touch your thumb to your index, the fleshy area of your hand ‘feels’ like how a rare steak should be cooked, while middle finger to thumb is generally medium-rare, ring finger is medium and little finger is well-done.
Our mouth is watering at the thought already… all we need to do is add some greens and maybe a couple of chips too.
