Gran Del Val represents four generations dedicated to the cultivation of coffee in Boquete, Panama. Its history dates back to 1914, when Gabriel de Dianous founded his first plantation. In 1991, the second generation under the direction of Ricardo Fernández Carazo and wife Teresita de Dianous founded Cafetalera Fernández, a family company responsible for the processing and sales of our estate coffee. In 2021, we initiated our roasted specialty coffee operation in Panama.

We have four coffee farms, one located in Alto Quiel and three in Bajo Mono Boquete, Panama. They are situated in the outskirts of the Baru volcano mountains, between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, at an altitude that reaches 1,600 meters above sea level. It is blessed with rich volcanic soil, a cool climate and a drizzle called “bajareque” that lasts all year round. All of which contributes to an ideal micro climate to produce a single origin (Estate) Premium Specialty Coffee. Our coffee is 100% Arabica of the varieties Typica, Geisha, Caturra, Catuai and Java.

We are coffee growers committed to produce and process our coffee with the highest quality standards, to nature’s preservation and to manage with social responsibility. In 1997, Cafetalera Fernández was among the first to build an ecological coffee mill in Panama. Its coffee was certified by Rain Forest Alliance N.Y. and Hiro Coffee Japan.
