Spaghetti bolognese is a staple weeknight dinner in most homes, easy to make and filled with flavour.

Everyone has their own take on the Italian classic, with some adding dozens of extra ingredients to give it their own unique twist while others just keep is simple.

But one man has been shamed for his bizarre take on the family favourite, and it's been labelled "disgusting" and "something you would give a dog".

In fact, it's probably fair to argue that's we probably shouldn't even call his weird dish spaghetti bolognese.

Rosie and Chris Ramsey shared the recipe on their popular podcast Sh**ged Married Annoyed, and listeners were understandably horrified.

It was submitted by the man's wife, who is forced to make the dish regularly.

In a letter to the programme which Chris reads out, she writes: "My husband has been a fussy eater since I've known him, 15 years, with him only eating meals with either baked beans, ketchup or gravy, and only eating peas, carrots and mashed suede as his vegetables of choice.

"Over the years I have tried to introduce him to other foods with little luck, but he will now enjoy sweet pepper and tomato based pasta sauces but I have to sieve them to get rid of the onions/peppers.

"When I first got shown by his mum how he likes his spag bol I was mortified and I couldn't believe someone would eat this."

She then goes on to list what goes into the dish.

Beef mince, baked beans, tomato ketchup, gravy, worcestershire sauce, spagetti.

Rosie replies: "That's not spaghetti bolognese. That's beef with horrible ingredients. That's awful."

Chris adds: "That's a f***ing mess, that's what that is. That's just the worst.

"That's disgusting. That's one of the worst things. That sounds like something you would give a dog.

"Mate, if you're listening, sort your palette out will you? Jesus."

Listeners were quick to share their thoughts on the dish on social media.

One wrote: "YOU GUYS!! Ketchup and beans in spag Bol? No, definitely don’t agree! But GRAVY & WORCESTER SAUCE YES!!! Honestly makes it takes more meaty and thickens the sauce, I swear by adding gravy."

Another added: "He needs to be slapped round the face with a wet fish and told to grow up! P***** me off hearing that."
